Behind the Rails Lecture Featuring the Photography of Nick Stewart

Thursday, November 12, from 6:30 – 7:30 PM

Join us as Nick Stewart will be walking through photographs he has taken of the railroad scene across the Sierra and the Great Basin the past few years. His coverage spans everything from modern mainline operations on the Union Pacific to heritage railroads like the Virginia & Truckee. The focus of this lecture will be on the photos, as he shares stories about each photo or series of photos. Nick will also talk about his background as a photographer and railroad author, and how he got to where he is today.

Nick is a railroad photographer and author from Reno, Nevada. He serves as associate editor at Railfan & Railroad Magazine and works as a freelance photojournalist. Nick’s passion for photography began when he was in high school, eventually leading him to pursue a career in journalism. He recently earned a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno. He is especially drawn to the Southern Pacific and Western Pacific railroads, two railroads that once served Northern Nevada.
